Stamping process: What to do if the mold is damaged or stuck?

Stamping is one of the effective processes for mass production of parts. Mold failure is a relatively common problem in stamping production, which often causes production stoppage and affects the product production cycle. Therefore, it is necessary to find the cause of the mold failure as soon as possible and repair it reasonably. Shanghai Xinyan will share the specific situation with you:

1. Mold damage

Mold damage refers to mold cracking, breaking, expansion, etc. To solve the problem of mold damage, it is necessary to find the cause from the mold design, manufacturing process and mold application. If foreign matter enters the mold, parts are stacked, waste obstruction and other situations are not handled in time, the blanking plate, punch, lower template and guide column of the mold will be easily damaged if the processing and production are continued.

If the spring force design is too small or the height of the equal height sleeve is not equal, the spring will crack and the blanking plate will be skewed. Stacking and punching will be formed, and parts will be damaged. If the quenching temperature of the mold is too high, the quenching method and time are unfair, and the tempering times and temperature and elbow selection are improper, the mold will be damaged after entering the stamping production. The punch is not fixed properly or the screw strength is insufficient. It will cause the punch to fall or break. The working height is adjusted too low and the guide column is not smooth enough. Generally, the heat treatment process of the mold material has a great influence on it. The size or depth of the blanking hole is not designed properly, which can easily cause the slot hole to be blocked and cause damage to the blanking plate. When the mold is used, the position and direction of the parts are installed incorrectly or the bolts are not tightened properly.

2. Die jam

The main reasons for die jam are: incorrect die guide and tilt. Otherwise, the fault will be expanded and the die will be damaged. The die is deformed, for example, the hardness and thickness of the die base and die plate are too small, which is easy to be deformed by external force; the die position is not accurate, and the positioning error of the upper and lower dies is out of tolerance. At this time, the punch strength should be improved and the guidance and protection of the unloading plate should be strengthened.

Or the accuracy of the press is too poor, causing interference with the die; the strength of the punch is not enough, and the position of the large and small punches is too close, making the lateral force of the die unbalanced. During the stamping process, once the die is not flexible or even stuck, it is necessary to stop production immediately, find out the cause of the die jam, and eliminate the fault.

3. Repair

The die cost of stamping production is high. Generally, the die cost accounts for 1/5-1/4 of the total cost of the product. The one-time repair cost exceeds 70% of the original die cost, or the die life is near. When the mold repair technology is too complicated and the mold repair cost is too high, the difficulty will inevitably make the repair cycle too long, which will seriously affect the normal production of stamping. You should choose to fail and scrap in advance and remake the mold. Generally speaking.

After the mold is damaged, there is still a choice between repair and scrap. However. Therefore, timely repair of the mold to prevent mold damage can reduce the mold cost of stamping production. When the key parts of the mold are severely damaged, sometimes the convex and concave molds are damaged at the same time. This is because, in addition to the difficulty and high cost of mold manufacturing. The non-natural wear and failure of the stamping mold, such as the damage of non-key parts.

Under normal circumstances, the main failure mode of stamping molds is excessive wear. Re-mold production and delivery. Until the burrs of the punched parts are overrun, the size and shape of the parts are not accurate.
