What materials are generally used to make injection molds?

Common materials for injection molds include P20, 718, H13, S136 and other steels, as well as aluminum alloys and other materials.

1) Commonly used steels
1. P20 steel: a general-purpose mold steel with a relatively economical price, suitable for the production of small and medium-sized injection molded parts. However, its service life is relatively short, it cannot withstand high temperature and high pressure, and is not suitable for long-term production.

2. 718 steel: a steel with high strength, high toughness, high heat resistance, and high wear resistance, suitable for the production of large injection molded parts. However, the cost is high and the processing is difficult.

3. H13 steel: a steel with excellent wear resistance, excellent high temperature toughness and excellent high temperature strength, suitable for high-pressure injection molding production. However, the cost is high.

4. S136 steel: a stainless steel with excellent wear resistance, excellent high temperature toughness and excellent high temperature strength, suitable for the production of high-quality and high-precision injection molded parts. However, the cost is high.

2) Other materials

1. Aluminum alloy: It has good thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity and machinability, and is suitable for the production of small injection products and products that cannot withstand high pressure. However, its strength is not as good as steel, and it is easy to wear and deform.

2. Silicone rubber: It is suitable for making small batches of injection molds or producing products with complex structures. However, its production cycle is long and its service life is short, so it is not suitable for high-intensity and long-term use.

In general, different injection products require different materials to make molds to achieve the best production effect. When using injection molds, you must also pay attention to maintenance and care, and regularly clean and lubricate them to extend their service life.
