Mold design: Mold design is the first step in the production process, and the structural characteristics of the grille need to be analyzed in detail. The overall dimensions of the automobile grille are 1520mm×475mm×290mm. During molding, defects such as spots, gate marks, shrinkage depressions, weld marks and flash are not allowed. The grille is block-shaped, and the connecting ribs between the grilles are small and numerous, making filling difficult. Therefore, the optimization of the pouring system, ejection system and cooling system needs to be considered when designing the mold.

Mold manufacturing: The mold adopts a hot runner pouring system, including 19 needle valve hot nozzles, and the feed is controlled by a sequence valve. The mold has an overall dimension of 2230mm×1600mm×1265mm and a total mass of about 18600kg, which is a large injection mold. When designing the mold parting surface, the research and matching of the upper and lower molds should be reduced as much as possible to reduce the difficulty of processing, and at the same time, it should be conducive to cavity exhaust.

Injection molding: Injection molding is a key link in the production process. Plastic particles are injected through the injection mold to form the grille body. During the injection molding process, the melt filling fluidity needs to be controlled to ensure that the position of the weld mark is reasonable and to avoid defects on the appearance of the parts.

Surface treatment: After the injection molding is completed, the grille needs to be surface treated. Usually, a hot stamping machine is used to hot stamp on the surface of part of the grille body to form a hot stamping film, and a varnish protective layer is prepared on the surface and the hot stamping film. The varnish protective layer has strong adhesion, enhances the weather resistance and scratch resistance of the grille, and prolongs the service life.

Quality inspection: After the production is completed, the grille needs to be quality inspected to ensure that its surface quality and structural strength meet the design requirements. The inspection content includes appearance inspection, dimensional measurement and functional testing.
